Our First Day of School August 25th 2011

We weren't going to start school until Monday, but the girls really wanted to start, so we started today! Everyone was so excited! We started with taking pictures of everyone.

Then we said The Lord's Prayer and followed with the Pledge of Allegiance. One person each day will get to hold the flag while we say the Pledge but I forgot to take pictures of that today. Then we moved on to the Calendar time

After we spelled out the month and the days and we did music from www.abcjesuslovesme.com We did music for Days of the Week and then we moved on and I let them sing and dance to This is the Day and Deep and Wide

Then we read some Bible Stories and I decided to let them have a snack, so I firgured that since we were doing Creation and it was the first day, I would try to do something really exciting! Since I didn't plan on starting school today, I didn't have mini oreos like someone else had suggested for light and dark, so I had the bright idea that we would have icecream sandwiches because I knew we had them in the freezer, so I sat the kids down and went over the lesson again and said what are our colors again? RIGHT! Black and White! What did God create on the first day? RIGHT! Day and Night so we are going to have icecream sandwiches to go with our colors and the white for day and the chocolate for night- Then there is a bunch of screaming and they are so excited and they run to the table and I open the freezer and guess what????????????????? Dad ate them all! Oh No! So he is sitting at the computer the whole time not saying anything, and I say Honey, did you eat all the icecream sandwiches? He says yea why? So we ended up having popcorn with a little yellow on it and a pc. of Hershey's candy leftover from S'mores

Then we colored on our Apple Tree for today and Blake really didn't want to do this project as you can see in the picture

This is how many apples went in the tree today and the girls loved how I wrote on the poster and hung it at their level, they were singing this all day and tracing the poster with their fingers

The last thing we did was make the planet earth, the kids loved making this

We ended the night with the kids reading by themselves before bed and then after I put them to bed I canned some spaghetti sauce!

Saving Your Kids Papers

Ok- Here it goes- I want to know if you save your kids papers? I had a stack of papers from each of my 3 kids last night to go in their totes and my husband asked me if I saved EVERY SINGLE ONE of the papers that they did? I said just about - lol. But seriously, what do you save and what do you throw away? I know that some of the things my mom saved I just loved looking at it and I liked seeing a book that I had written my name in from when I was little and papers I had done. He said he didn't really care but that his mom only kept trophys and awards but it didn't matter to him, my sister says it is more for us to look back at then the kids she thinks, which I think is true too, because I was looking back at the way they wrote their name last year and reminiscing. So tell me what do you think?

As you look on the church landscape, youth are leaving the faith in droves. The modern church, overall, is struggling to reach the next generation with the gospel. What has happened? Shouldn’t the church, as a whole, abandon the sandy ideas of man and shamelessly return to the firm rock of the Word of God? God’s Word sufficiently identifies how youth are to be reached. School is starting in 6 weeks!

School is starting in 6 weeks, I am trying to get everything ready! I am trying to figure out how to separate the girls and Blake and find something for Parker to do if he happens to wake up while I am teaching them :) The girls can write their names, they know their shapes, colors, letters, etc. But Blake doesn't know how to write, doesn't know his shapes, he does know his letters and alphabet but they just need to work on different things, it is going to be a challenge this year, I think I am going to try to put them into sections and have them do different things that way, I have been reading different blogs and they are so helpful. I am getting all my curriculum off of Abcjesusloves me but then pulling a few things here and there to go with it. I really love all that she does. The things they can do together I will do, then I will just have different sections set up with what they need to work on individually and set a timer and have them move when the timer goes off, we will see how that works! I will try to keep you updated. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

Homeschooling Preschoolers

I have almost made it through a year homeschooling my 4 yr. old twins and my 3 year old son has just decided to jump in and join. He just turned 3 in December. I think it has went really well, I have used a free online curriculum called Abc Jesus Loves me and it has been great! I started out with the 3 yr. old and moved up to the 4 yr. old. I will probably use it again next year with the girls, they just turned 4 in November. I use some things from Brightly Beaming as well. I do pull alot of free things off the internet and we just do a lot of fun things and a lot of reading so we don't really have a set thing that we do just lots of fun and learning. If I can ever figure out how this blog thing works I will start adding pictures - lol. Yesterday we did a human dot to dot picture and they really loved that and then I let them color themselves and we hung it up on the wall, they think it is pretty neat that they are hanging on the wall. I think today we are going to do a lot of reading, they have been making some little books and I think he girls are starting to recognize some words so we are going to work on that today to see what they do know :)

My Kids

What to say- My oldest daughter Taylor will be due with her first child on March 7th- she is almost there!
My twin girls Harley and Haley are 3 and they think they can do everything by themselves! They know it all! They are both potty trained now and it is great! But sometimes I miss helping them with little things.
My son Blake is 2 and he is rotten! That is all there is to say- my sweet little boy has turned rotten! He is still my little loving boy but when he gets on a roll he is rotten!
My husband of course is still as sweet as ever - but with four kids we need to find more time for each other- how are we going to do that? Well we have started a Bible Study together on the weekends. We really enjoy Bible Studies, so I bought one that I thought we would enjoy for just the two of us.

Let me tell ya, today has been rough! My little ones have been bouncing off the walls, it was raining outside and a little chilly so we couldn't go outside. My husband came home from work yesterday morning sick and my oldest daughter came home today sick! Between my husband and the kids - I can't get sick! Please pray for me!

I am getting so sad that my oldest daughter will be 18 in October - Can you believe that?????? My twin girls are going to be 3 in November and my son is going to be 1 in December - Where does the time go?

I try to capture all the pictures and video I can, I don't want these times to end, but I know God is going to take care of my teenager. She is very smart and has a good head on her shoulders I know she will be fine.

My twins are saying so much more, they are using sentences and trying to tell you stories now. It is so cute. I can't wait to start teaching them preschool things next year, but I really don't want them to get any bigger, it makes me sad. I baby them a lot but it is because I love all the hugs and kisses!

My son is wanting to do everything on his own, I am not liking it at all! I want him to need me- I am so glad I have a son in my life, he is a little angel.

I am blessed to have a wonderful husband and 4 wonderful kids. My life is complete and I owe all the glory to God for making my life complete.

I am going to try to write daily on my blog, but of course sometimes it is impossible. Please check back in and see what is going on and leave comments.
